We are homeowners!!!
Bryan and I have been waiting to say that for quite some time!!! What a whirlwind story that only God could have planned!
House #1 - the first house we put an offer on but it had another offer and they took the other offer
House #2 - 1st contract. house was modern- open concept, master bed with bath (jacuzzi tub!). After we had the contract on it, I wanted to go in again to look at it and there was water everywhere! 6 inches of standing water around the house and underneath. After some great advice from our realtor, we pulled the contract. Thanks Scott Malone!
House #3 - 2nd contract but contract in 2nd position (there was a contingency on the 1st contract). Buyer won out and the house was sold to an investor.
BUT it wasn't the end of the story! 3rd contract on House #3 was the final answer! The investor wanted to flip the properties and so he was willing to re-sell it to us for our original offer! So it wasn't a simple sell because we had to make sure to stay within FHA guidelines with flipping rules, etc. but it all worked out! But the story gets better!
At closing today, the attorney explained that we got a better deal because the other closing was really complicated. We explained our story and he couldn't believe we ended up with the house we wanted!
And then he was explaining something about making sure the house wasn't in an area where there could be high flood waters. He gave an example of a house in a neighborhood and we asked specifically which one and he described house #2. We are almost positive it was the exact same house! House #2 was considered in a flood zone and had major problems. If we would have stuck with that house, we would have missed out on House #3. God has a way of protecting us!
Bryan and I walked away feeling like God had His hand in every part of our house-hunting and that he gave us the house that we were supposed to have.
We bought an old house that needs work so we will be busy working for the next few months. Good thing we have been watching DIY network and HGTV. We could probably be on that show :)
