breaking the rules

Do you know in the movies when the mom and dad slump down on the couch after all the kids are in bed? Bryan and I literally do that every night after Micah is asleep in his crib...and that is just with one child...I can't imagine the victory we would feel with more than one.

Tonight was like any other night. We sit down and talk about our day and hold our breath until we know that another peep isn't coming out of Micah for the night. The last week and a half Micah has battled a staph infection. He had an eczema outbreak on his arm that he rubbed in his car seat and on his swaddle blankets and it ended up turning into staph. I don't want to be one of those over cautious moms (though I have called for various reasons like Micah used to snoring, pooping, lack of pooping, etc.). But all that to say, I called with the eczema outbreak but felt like he didn't need to be seen. Then the next week it didn't look like eczema anymore and I found out this time I should have been more cautious. Lesson learned.

All that background info to say that I have taken pity on Micah because he had an allergic reaction to the ointment and the oral antibiotics they gave him makes his tummy upset. So we have fallen into a slippery slope of him waking up crying shortly after being put down at night...

Tonight Bryan went to get him and came downstairs snuggling with him. Micah has us wrapped around his little finger! Micah proceeded to coo, smile, laugh, and even squeal in delight tonight. Definitely worth breaking the rules :)
