Sick of the cold...literally
Today I was officially diagnosed with Raynaud's Disease. After seeing a family practitioner and a podiatrist, it is true that I greatly dislike, even hate cold temperatures. Not only do I dislike being cold but my body does too.
My first experience with Raynaud's came when I went snowshoeing at Mt. Rainier National Park with Bryan. My feet went completely numb during the hike and then when they warmed up got red and swollen. My toes were itchy and very very painful to touch. I thought I was crazy.
Then it happened again when we had 3 weeks of snow on the ground. This time I came home from work during lunch and took off my socks to see that my toes were actually blue. Bryan didn't believe me at first because I was saying that I thought I had frostbite! Now that was a little extreme of a statement but my toes were literally blue.
Well since then I have had 2 more attacks and my toes are still red and blue in some areas. I guess this is what I get for living in a house that is heated to 55 degrees!
But today the doctor said that people have actually moved to warmer climates because there is no cure. That was good news for this beach-lovin, sunbathing, love to sweat girl!
So there is a bright side to being diagnosed with a disease that you've never heard of :)
